Before the war, Vlašić was one of the prominent and most desired destinations when it comes to athlete training. The location and ideal elevation of Vlašić hosted prominent athletes of Former Yugoslavia such as: national basketball team, football teams: Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, and Partizan Belgrade although there was only one hotel and one grass football team on Babanovac. Today Babanovac has several excellent hotel accommodations, but the poor sports infrastructure prevents the arrival of sports teams.
“The sports hall have capacity of around 300 spectators, and its dimensions make it suitable for handball, volleyball, basketball and football. Gym will also be the part of the hall”, as noted by Suada Avdić, the manager of the Hotel “Sunce” which facilitates around 38 rooms and has the maximum capacity of 110 beds with indoor swimming pool, wellness, and its own baby ski-lift with nice ski trails of the intermediate slope.
The idea about building the sports hall came about from the interviews with athletes that were accommodated in the hotel.
