A new hall built on Babanovac

On Babanovac, Vlašić a new sports hall has been built that will make a huge step forward in organisation of different sports competitions. The hall is part of the Hotel “Sunce”, and first “guest” was Bosnian national handball team. Before war, Vlašić was considered as one of the best destinations when it comes to sports training. Even though there was only one hotel and one grass football field on Babanovac, because of its position and ideal eleveation Vlašić was the host for many eminent sports teams from former Yugoslavia, including: basketball national team, and football clubs: Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, Partizan Belgrade. Today, there are numerous hotel accommodations, but poor sports infrastructure has limited the interest of sports teams.

“The sports hall will have capacity of around 300 spectators, and its dimensions make it suitable for handball, volleyball, basketball and football. Gym will also be the part of the hall”, as noted by Suada Avdić, the manager of the Hotel “Sunce” which facilitates around 38 rooms and has the maximum capacity of 110 beds with indoor swimming pool, wellness, and its own baby ski-lift with nice ski trails of the intermediate slope.
The idea about building the sports hall came about from the interviews with athletes that were accommodated in the hotel.
